Hello, I have an old dell inspiron 1100 laptop that I just dug up. I'm trying to get it running but it won't power up. All it does when the power button is pressed is flash an orange light next to the battery symbol on the front of the computer (the one next to the power symbol/light and the processor-working symbol/light. We have replaced the power cord with a dell replacement.
Does anyone know what is causing this? Could it be a bad battery?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,
    Joseph

battery shouldn't cause that as laptop can run off external power without battery installed. could be bad power adapter that the power cord plugs into then into laptop or motherboard might have died.

    Thanks!
Would there be any way to see what the problem might be if I were to take it apart (maybe a broken connection where the power plugs in)?
If it is indeed the motherboard, there will be no way to see anything wrong with it, correct?
