I have a NEC Optiarc AD-7173A Burner using the latest firmware (1.03). I use Platinum DVD+R DL 8x discs, they have worked fine until now for similar tasks. I use a fully updated version of imgburn.

When I try to burn a xbox 360 .dvd backup image at 2,4x speed I get the following error(s):
    Code:
    I/O Error!

Them media that you are using is made by CMC Magnetics, which is about the worst junk there is on the market. Try Verbatim media.

I succesfully finished 7 others. I used that same dvd on a laptop, wich burned it with no problems. The problem lies in my NEC Drive, it didnt die, because i can burn regular dvd's. Dont know what it is, drives me nuts.

Well, it really doesn't matter if you had 7 successful burns before. Try a different brand of media as a test.

Did you burn the 7 d/l disks from the same pack on the same drive?

I have an NEC AD-5170A (firm 1.13) and have probably burnt about 80 dvds with 95% success using Bulpaq printable at 2.4x. I just bought 75 more disks, and now i get the same error as you. Looks like although all the packaging is the same, the dye has changed from one pack to another. The older disks i had used CMC MAG-D04-00, and these new disks use CMC MAG-D03-64 (according to the error). So either i bought some really old stock, or the MAG numbers are going down. Either way, you've got to find media for your drive and stick to it.

ps. These are actually the cheapest d/l disks i've seen, so you don't have to go with the expense of Verbatim.
