    Hi everybody.
I had XP and all worked fine, I upgraded to Vista, and now am unable to burn a dvd video. If I burn a CD data backup, it works ok. If I do a simulate or an actual burn for the dvd video option, it fails. I am very sure it is not a media issue, I am part of the way thru a pack that was working perfectly while on XP, they are Verbatim dvd-r 8x. I have verified all updates today (windows, Nero, and burner firmware). I have powerdvd78 installed and it playsback movies perfectly so any codecs that may be needed are installed.
    Here is the logfile:

    No ASPI layer!

    this is an ATAPI error:
    05 21 02

although your specific problem (02) is not listed it's the same POSSIBLE CAUSE. Something within the system.....

    recommendation......reinstall ASPI layer:
This is for Windows XP..... Check out ASAPI layer for Vista
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm

Run Nero Info Tool and check that the Nero ASPI is present.
I don't have Windows ASPI installed, but the Nero ASPI location is listed at the beginning of the log, thus:

sorry I don't know what else to tell you other than your Nero might have to be deleted then reinstalled for it to work, since you did a Vista update on your computer. It's worth a try! Save your Serial #!

make sure when you do an uninstall to use the Nero Cleaner:
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/Nero_7_Clean_Tool.html
after cleaning out the uninstall then do a registry clean up and reboot..... then reinstall your Nero.... and add your serial #. try again. see if this helps.

I thought about the aspi layer since I had to install for XP, but I read that Vista didn't really need one, but after you pointed that out, I searched and found that frogaspi offers a wnaspi32.dll that can used for vista,I copied to the system32 folder, restarted pc and ran a simulation again and it still shows no aspi in the log file. How do I get Nero to recognize the dll sitting there?
And for the post about checking in Nero InfoTool, when you run it, where do you find that at? What tab is it on?
