I've had an 80gb video for three of four months now. when you try and turn the ipod on it makes a clicking sound and displays an error screen with a link to an apple support web address.

Tried connecting it to PC same thing happens with error screen and itunes doesn't recognise it and neither does windows as a USB connection. Any advise?

Did you drop it, hit it, maybe sit on it? The clicking is a sign of a Hard Drive Failure. The apple store may be able to cover this under warranty since it isn't that old. If it has been hit/dropped/any abuse, don't tell the apple store that or they won't fix it.
