I have ordered a maic 3.1 for my v7 ps2 and I'm going to buy a dvd burner once I set up the mod chip or it will be a waste of time and money, does anyone here ever installed a modchip (magic 3.1) or v7 or on any version before, if yes is it hard??? What do you recommend dvd-r or dvd+r?? ANSWER BOTH. And Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

yes it is hard but if you have soldering experience you can atempt it, if not get someone or some company to get it for you

for a version 7 ps2 it dosent matter what format burner - or + that you buy

however - is still the standard for standalone dvd players it will also work on every version of ps2 (if your friends have modded ps2's and they want you to back up their games etc) where as a +r burner will only suppert v4-7 and some v4's still dont

also +r and +rw media costs more

there is also the option of a dual format burner like the sony dur that will burn both +r and -r they cost a bit more though

so as an overcap yes it is hard
and -R is your best bet for a burner
