I was reading somewhere that there are many hacked/modded x360 units that are getting banned and not able to work as it should. It was many years ago since I've modded my DVD-drive. AFAIK (looking at the files I've used), my drive has the iXtreme v1.51 right now.

As always, I want to be on the updated/latest side of things. Currently, what is the best firmware needed for my drive? My x360 unit is one of the initial releases of Microsoft that has a Hitachi-LG (not sure because I forgot, but I remember that iXtreme is only for this drive?) drive.

And what is all the fuzz about getting your modded unit bricked when you connect to the Internet or update the dashboard or something?

I hope you can help me shed a light here :) Thanks.

No one is getting banned. You need to update the dash to current and then flash to LT 2.0 when it releases for your drive which is any day

So updating to the latest dashboard won't brick my system?

A wise man once said "You need to update the dash to current and then flash to LT 2.0 when it releases for your drive which is any day." Oh wait, that was Modking who said that. Anyway, do as he says and all is good.

And LT 2.0 is supposed to be the best firmware for xbox 360?

How do I know if my xbox is still JTAG'able?

    If you search maybe, http://lmgtfy.com/?q=is+my+xbox+jtagable

Hitachi latest is LT+ 1.91, LT+ 2.0 isn't out as of yet for Hitachi.

    Thanks.

What is the difference between 1.91 and 2.0?

Ok 1.91 doesn't read the new XDG3 but 2.0 does. Remember it's LT+ and not just LT or Ixtreme so don't mix them up. Ixtreme went to 1.6 then I think LT went to 1.2 and now LT+ which started down at 1.0 or 1.1 is now at 2.0. Hitachi is always the last to be released because there's so many different Hitachi drive revisions which all need different modded firmware unlike lite-on which all take the same firmware now well all fat take the same fat firmware and all slim take the same slim firmware.

    Thanks for the info.

How long usually are Hitachi firmware released for LT+?

So you're saying that iXtreme is entirely different from LT+?

What are XDG3 games? What does it mean?

Now I tried updating the dashboard of my xbox 360 and I'm getting E66 error. Based on Google, I have a Toshiba-Samsung drive, right? I was not sure if I had a Hitachi drive since I flashed this drive a very long time ago.

EDIT: It's starting to come back, lol. I think I have a Samsung MS25 drive which is the easiest drive to modify, right?

It's one of the easier ones yeah and I think LT+2.01 is out for that one.

    Thanks.

How do I get rid of the E66 error? Should I flash to LT+ 2.01 first before updating the dashboard?

Are you getting E66 non stop or just when you boot a new game?

If you want to update your dashboard you should flash back to stock then after updating flash to the latest LT+

Haven't tried a game yet but I got the E66 error during dashboard update (when it is about to finish). Then I can boot back to the old dashboard with no problems. When I try to update again, I get the same error.

Is the JungleFlasher guide the best guide to use in flashing back to stock firmware and to LT+ as well? Is the stock firmware downloadable in the Internet or is it the firmware backup that I've made before the first time I flashed my drive?

You should have a backup of it but you can download stock firmware and spoof your drives data to it and flash it then update the dashboard. I use JungleFlasher but some people have trouble with it depending on their setup. If you update successfully then you can flash to the lastest and try it out.

Any way that it will work jungleflasher has a good gui so it makes it easier to use instead of dos. It works for me and I've done hundreds and hundreds of drives so it should work for you.

Thanks for the info. Does it work with Intel SATA controllers? Specifically the Z68 chipset.

I'm using an intel chipset and it works, if it recognizes your drive in jungleflasher it should be ok.
