Is purchasing a bootleg a crime? Here in Iraq the locals sell all kinds of bootlegged crap. Movies, games, windows vista, all kinds of software. The most anything costs is like $20. You can actually purchase a box set of 237 Diseny movies. I was just wondering if I got caught with them at the airport or something would I be paying $250,000, or spending 50 years in prison.

depends on the country. selling them is illegal everywhere, but possession is only illegal in the US and some other nations.

Damn... thats too bad. I have over 100 movies. I think I'll risk it and send em through the mail or something. Thanks though. I'm gonna look up the fine for that.

Mail should be alright - I mean after all, who really opens mail to check for pirate movies? The parcel would most likely be x-rayed though.
