I'm looking for a simple (and cheap) dvd editing tool which will allow me to take a dvd recorded on a standalone unit and edit out commercials and such. I can to it with the standalone unit, but only in what they call "VR" mode, which can't be read by other players. I want to be able to edit video that was recorded in "video" mode.

Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

    Thanks

You need a combination of tools, unless you're willing to spend money.
First you need something to rip the mpeg from the disk.
Second you need something to cut it.
Third, you need something to author it.
Fourth, you need something to burn it.
DVD Decrypter may fit your needs for ripping.
Cuttermaran is free, for simple cuts/splices.
    Rejig will author it.
Burn with whatever you currently use.
