    Using Nero 7 Ultra

    I have a .iso file.

I have search for a free or free to try software to convert this to an .avi file without any luck.

If I burn a DVD what extension (.avi?) will it be burnt.

    Thanks

First you have to unpack, extract that ISO. You can use Winrar, Isobuster, or mount that ISO on Nero's Image Drive, probably the easyest. After extraction, depending what is in the ISO(most likely a dvd structure, with a bunch of VOB files), you can use diffrent programs to convert to an avi. If your ISO is indeed a DVD, you can use AutoGK(free) to convert to AVI.
Don't really understand what you mean by that.

    Thank you for the info.

What I was wondering is if it was possible to burn a DVD using Nero using the .iso file and if so what format would the DVD be.

Thanks again from a stormy Nova Scotia Canada

    Yes, it is possible.
How big is the ISO? If it is small enough to fit on a DVD 5, you fire up Nero Burnin Rom
    Choose Recorder / Burn image
Browse to the location of the ISO file and select the ISO file you want to burn to dvd. Make sure you set the burn speed not higher than X8.
If that ISO is the copy of a DVD-Vidoe, the result should be a DVD that plays on your standalone player.
