First, Hello everyone :). Nice to be here and having fun trying to get things working. I have an issue that I've seen bits and pieces explained before, but am not sure if I'm going the right direction.

I bought Swap Magic 3 Plus (Version 3.6) and have successfully attempted and burned a number of backups.

However, I am having issues with both Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Guitar Hero II. The reason for desiring to burn these games is pretty simple, The first one I have lent out and the lendor lost, he will be paying for it shortly, but in the meantime etc. The Guitar Hero II issue is simply that for some reason, my PS2 has started chipping and permanently scratching the disc, and that disc alone. I have no clue why, if anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it, though i fear it might be too late. The damage that continues to be done makes it unplayable, and unfortunately I'm having the same trouble with the backup (as far as playability goes).

This is on a slim PS2.

The game loads, it takes a while but it loads, all of the scenes are smooth though they take a while to boot up, due to the scratches on my original disc I don't know if this is supposed to be the case of if it's lagging. However, when it finally loads a song (it seems that with backups, if there is a loading screen it takes 8x as long) it begins to try and play it, then it will stop and freeze. This causes the entire thing to freeze for a few moments until it re-loads where the game is and continues, only to freeze a few seconds later (this happens more on the backup, however the backup isn't scratched because of it).

Anyone have any advise as to what could be causing the issue or personal fixes? I know one thing I just read was that DVD+R's work better on slim PS2's, and I have Verbatim's DVD-R. I figure that might be a slight issue, but not that big of a deal.

    Any ideas?

I have swap magic 3 plus (3.6) as well and i never had problem like that. dvd-rs work better then dvd+rs but it might be the type of media you use. for best performance, use the Sony DVD-Rs and burn at 1 or 2x speed (takes about 1/2 hour for a 3-4gb game)

I'll try reburning it at 1 or 2 and see if that helps, but I thought Verbatim was a good brand to use :\?
