Hi, I'm very new to this message board, and I need help. I've been using Nero 7 for quite a while. I've made a few DVDs, but the problem is that once the dvd structure is created, Vision fails almost immediately once it attempts to write the files to disc. I used to get around this issue by writing the files to the hard drive, and then burning them via a generic program to a dvd as if it were a data disc. This always worked, the discs always played. When I installed Vista a couple of months ago, I lost the program. Now, no matter what program I try to use, that old method no longer works. I attempted to use Nero Recode to burn the hard drive VOB files to disc, but it failed just like Vision always did.

So yeah, I'm really lost. Does anyone know of a good program I can used to burn the hard drive vob structure to disc once its written? Or even better, does any one know how I can get Vision and Recode to burn properly? Any help would be very appreciated. Attached is the last error log I saved when Recode failed to burn based on the structure I'd written to the hard drive. Thanks.

Have you tried different media (Verbatim?).

It knows the type, but isn't identifying the make.

Looks like your firmware is out of date. Here's a link to the latest:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1793

Grab the 1.92. This might fix your problem but your drive is pretty old and the f/w update is from Jan 2005. Might not solve your problem if you are using 16x disks.

If the firmware doesn't help, save the output to the hard disk, then try a burn with 'ImgBurn'

    http://www.imgburn.com/

    Run ImgBurn
    Mode > 'Build'
    Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Set speed at 4x and click the green write button.
