I've got Windows XP & want to copy - Now What?

I'm brand new to this and want to copy some of my DVDs. I've got a 4X DVD burner and Windows XP. The system came with "Sonic My DVD" which I'm not sure will do what I need.

Is there some other software out there that I need or can get to make this deal work?

    Thanks in advance!

Ok, you will need the following:

make sure you have the aspi layer installed, a program called forceaspi is available from google

make sure your file system is ntfs, not fat32 or you will have problems

Smartripper or dvd decrypter, this will rip the movie to your hard drive

if the total iss size of the movie on your hard drive is smaller than 4.3Gb you can use nero or vob instant cd to burn it to dvd-r

if the file size is more than 4.3Gb, you can either reencode the movie and drop the bitrate so it fits onto one disc, can take a while, depends on your machine, or split the movie to 2 disc, then burn

    you should read this:

there are some good guides on doom9

    Mike,

I thought I read somewhere on here that Ifoedit didn't work with Windows XP. Did I read that wrong?

You did read incorrectly. IFO Edit does work on XP.
