    Are you using a buffered or non buffered jtag?

    You say you have "also tried jkeys", so I take it you were using SkyMax.
    Did you set the Adr Flash to 2Mb?
    Did you try to power on the box after the failed flash? It's a long time since I jtag'ged mine, but if I remember right, it told me it had failed, and it actually worked. I could of course be wrong about that, as I said, it was a long time ago.
    Having said that, the box is still working perfectly, for now.

    I'am also having this problem,

    I am using a un-buffered Jtag cable,i power off (via the 3 different ways) and power on within 3 secs

    on jkeys i get - "Error reading IRD (DCU Peek)"
    Jkeys also gets the Device ID "0x1d405041"
    and Device "STi5518MVB-X"
    on Skymax i get (ive used both Versions) -

    "Init JTAG
    IDCODE : FFFFFFFF
    Fail DCU, Plesae Restart or Reset CPU Box"

    the solder seems to be fine no cross wires etc.

    im not sure if the VCC needs to be soldered to anything though?

    plus according to a post somewher on a forum if there are 13 vents then its a 1st gen, and i do." so why did a 1st gen die from the 400api?

    If its a first generation box you should have pins instead of pads on the header. Courtesy of Amazing here is the jtag points as they are different for a genuine box.

    [IMG]

    TP12 = TCK (WHITE)
    TP13 = TRST (BLUE)
    TP14 = TMS (YELLOW)
    TP15 = TD0 (GREEN)
    TP16 =TD1 (RED)
    Black to ground.

    Take the VCC from the top end of C40 near the CPU.

    ive allready got the wire connected to the C40 but i dont know where the other end goes?

    [IMG]

    on the left is the section where your picture says the jtag points are but no my box has pads so i think its a clone with 13 vents.

    the right is where i connected the jtag via the instuctions from the flaebay seller

    @weesol
    Hi can you give us a bigger picture of your jtag pads/port? It seems like you may have a 1st generation box, does it have 20pads in a row together? If you are using the non buffered jtag cable it doesn't need volts, only the buffered version with an IC on it needs volts

    As said I need bigger photos to enable to decide upon your problem. The info I gave you was for a genuine box as thats what you surmised you had.This is the other method.

    JTAG is in the corner of the PCB and is a 20pin connector (no pins, just pads) layed out in a 2 x 10 array.

    Pin1 is the square pin.

    Connections are as follows:

    PIN9 = TMS
    PIN11 = TCK
    PIN13 = TDI
    PIN15 = TDO
    PIN19 = TRST

    Ground is all even number pins.

    VCC is the end of capacitor C40 nearest the processor.

    The box must be powered up to be flashed (don't worry about the lack of display or picture)

    Flashing with JKEYS
    -------------------

    Run JKEYS and Detect. Should come up as:

    Device ID: 0x1D405041
    Device: STi5518MVB-X

    Choose the IRD model as 4900

    Flash would be 29LV160
    Start : 7FE00000
    Bytes 20000

    Go into flash programmer.

    Erase chip first by clicking on Erase in the top right

    Flash chip with a working TSOP image by clicking on the top-right Program button.

    Flashing with S*YMax UP (Easier!)
    --------------------------------

    If you are having problems flashing with JKEYS you can also use S*YUP. This is much easier to use.

    Click on 2mb (0x7FE00000)
    Click Start
    Click Erase
    Click Write

    Choose your flash image .. sit back and wait

    Thanks to

    This code means it is not connecting. Are you sure you have power to the box and all connections are true? Have you looked at the jtag tut?
