I have a PAL Wii and have a few questions

I am currently backing up my own games PAL ( Wiikey ) due to having 2 young kids prone to scratching the games so bad they will not play. I am under the impression that it is illegal for any Company to block / Brick my Wii just because I have modified my system, is this right.

At present I am not allowing my wii on the Internet I would like to use this, is it ok.

So if I keep Buying the games and backing them up is there still a possibility off Blocking / Bricking.
