Keyboard Crash

My keyboard is crashing during Windows XP startup. It is working up to a certain point during the startup process, while the XP startup screen is showing. The 3 lights on the kb flash once and it goes dead. When XP starts I cant put in a password. I've tried a couple of different keyboards - same result. It's a PS2 connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks billo. I seem to have sorted it. Well, xp safe mode sorted it for me and all is well now, thanks again.
