    hey all,

im just wondering what cable would i use to connect my LAPTOP to my TV i have looked at the one that came with my PC and it wont fit my laptop

I dont know what the connections are called so ill try and describe them

in the cable that i have there are two ends a white end with 16 pins and another longer pin
the other end is blue and has 12 pins. i know the white end goes into the PC and the blue end into my TV.

But i want to connect my laptop to my TV and to do this i think i need a different cable as i don't have a place to put the white end on my laptop.

what is the name of this cable i need to connect my laptop to my TV?

edit: PS i want to use my TV as a screen for my laptop

    hey,

yer the one on my laptop is similar to the one on my TV, but looking now i see the one on my laptop is black not blue although it looks exactly the same as the one the picture.

does it matter that it is black?

if i PM you a link to a local electronics store could you help me find the right cable to connect my laptop to my TV and use my TV as a monitor?

It probably doesn't matter about the colour, as long as they are the same connector. You can probably easily get a VGA to VGA lead from Maplin, but it'll be expensive.
    Perhaps this?
