    Can someone please help me with this problem?
    I just bought a Pioneer DVR-111D internal burner with an external enclosure that has NEC chipset...I plug everything in and my Sony laptop wouldn't recognize the burner at all. (no new hardware popup, not in device manager, not in my computer)
    I'm wondering if the NEC chipset enclosure is not compatible with the Pioneer. If that is the problem does anyone know what kind of external enclosure can be used with Pioneer.

    I don't know how to check with my BIOS thing so if needed, can you please teach me how.

    Comments will be appreciated.

    Thank you very much
    * Have a nice day

    @mi9891sa
    I use the Vantec NexStar 3 5.25" enclosures(NEC, LiteOn and LG DVDRW's with no problems). I buy yhem here: http://www.directron.com/nst530u2.html
    I have used others in the past with horrible luck. These Vantec's are the best/problem free. I also use their 2.5" ones with laptop hard drives.
    Burn On,

    PS. The Prices are cheap compaired to most of the other brands out there.
