My 360's Toshiba / Samsung drive stopped reading disc media.

I tried using lens cleaner on the lens, yet it has been ineffective.

I found and ordered a BenQ replacement drive....but have I just wasted 70 dollars?

I have seen some discussion of "drive keys" or something of the sort.

Can you not replace the drive without some god-awful complicated mess?

I wish I had kept my PS3....never had any problems with it.

These problem-prone 360s are starting to annoy me with how much time I have to spend attempting to fix them.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

    P.S.

in a fit of rage I trashed the Toshiba-Samsung drive. I was very upset.

yeah, you can't just open up the 360, take out the old drive, pop in the new one and have it work. You will actually need to go through the process of getting the key off the old drive and using it to install the new one. Sorry man

if your old drive is not playing games doesnt mean you cant get the key off it do a lil research and you never know. its only when you cant get the original key then ur messed but you havent even tried so may be not all is lost
