    Hey!

SP2 has a high level of security(firewall) which is enabled by default. You could try disabling the firewall and see if you can get through. If the firewall is the problem, I beliieve you can allow certain connections and sites in the firewall options.

    Hope this helps.

Has your actual online performance degragded? If no then just ignore it and chalk it to SP2 stupidity :)

    Hey

    Hey

Yes I know exactly what you mean--you must get killed often!
If you tried the fix and it didn't work, maybe you should uninstall SP2 and install SP1. It should be easy if you have XP and use System Restore. I'm sure that microsoft will work out the bugs soon.

    Hey

Go to this site and test your connection speed.
You get only 3 tests a month.

    http://www.bandwidthplace.com/

Let your machine cool down and do a test. You said the problem started after SP2 so there doen't seem to be a link but you never know.

    Hey

The test says its good. Let it cool and try it later and see the results. Depending on your connection, you may have faster speeds at different times.

What kind of connection do you have-- high speed, dsl, .............

    Hey

DSL is better than dial-up--I survived for a year on that!!!!!

Did you install the most recent drivers for your modem? That may cause the slowdown.
