    sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. i have a Lite-On DVD+/-RW SOHW-832S drive and i thought i remember reading somewhere that i can only use DVD+ discs to burn on w/ that brand. i just bought a stack of DVD-R discs (haven't opened yet) since they are supposedly compatible w/ more dvd players. don't want to open them till i know for sure i can burn them w/ this drive. can anyone help?

    thanx again. i noticed that it gives the same write speeds for DVD+/-R/RW. i heard that DVD-R/RW burns slower in general. maybe they both burn the same w/ the lite-on. either way, whats a couple of extra minutes. ;~)

    No real differences really.

    1x = 60mins
    2x = 30mins
    4x = 15mins
    8x = 8mins

    Times are approximate, but are in the ballpark for - and + discs...........................

    Media dependent of course................

    Or by updating the firmware you can 'kid' the drive that the 4x disc inserted is in fact an 8x, therefore overspeeding the burn process.....very risky though - other members do it with good success, but I do not endorse those measures so it is upto you, should you wish to pursue it...........................
