I am using a gameshark and Mod chip. I have a DVD-R recorder and I am having problems with my PS2 loading the games, just stops on the gameshark screen " insert game and press x" I have no problem loading Cd backups. The files are all there when I check nero and I'm using good DVD-R's. Please help

Try using Alcohol 120%. Much better than nero!

    Dela_ :

Why is alcohol120% better than Nero..
I'd like to hear some arguments, because if you are right i might use Alcohol instead of Nero.

    To jrbilly:
I guess this is the right way to start your DVD backup (assuming you have a no solder mod:

    PS2 DVD Backups:
    (1) Boot AR2/GS2 disc 1.
    (2) At the main screen, press the EJECT button to eject the CD tray.
    (3) Replace the AR2/GS2 disc with an original PS2 DVD game, such as Dead or Alive 2.
    (4) Close the CD tray (press EJECT again) and wait for about 30 seconds.
    (5) Select START GAME and then select WITHOUT CODES.
    (6) Once the AR2/GS2 is asking to change the game disc, press and HOLD the EJECT button till the RESET light changes from green to
    FLASHING orange.
    (7) The CD tray will now open and you can replace the DVD game with your backup copy.
    (8) The CD tray will automatically close after about 5 seconds.
    (9) Wait till the the power LED changes from orange to green again and press X now to start the game.

IT IS DIFFERENT FROM BOOTING CD-BACKUPS !!

    Good luck ..

    (3) Replace the AR2/GS2 disc with an original PS2 DVD game, such as Metal Gear 2.
    (4) Close the CD tray (press EJECT again) and wait for about 15 seconds.
    (5) Select START GAME and then select WITH CODES.
Select a game, any game change a code. Press start, select with codes and press X to load the game.
When the screen that says "updating codes please Wait"
    (6) press and HOLD the EJECT button till the RESET light changes from green to
    FLASHING orange.

    Wizkid,

In alcohol 120%, when it comes time to capture an image or burn an image you have a drop down box of datatypes to select from. Funnily enough, one of these datatypes is Playstation 2. Apparently, Alcohol can handle ps2 games much better than nero and I've heard from lots who say they had success with it and dvd-r!

Jrbilly, just remember to make sure that the TOC of the original game you are using to help boot has to be larger than the backup. If you can get your hands on a Devil May Cry Demo disc it has the largest TOC. Dexter

To view DVD backup movies on a PS2, do you have to do anything different, like using a GS2 disc? I've heard that you need to have a modded PS2 to view copied movies, correct?

You always need a modchip to play backups of either kind .
So to play DVD movies (backups) you will need a chip that boots DVD copies like Messiah or Magic.

Actually, copied DVD movies seem to play fine in a ps2 as long as its dvd-r without the use of a modchip. I know this because my brother uses DVD X Copy and he doesnt have a modchip and his movies play just fine!

From what I see ye. Basically it copies your DVD to 2 disks unless your movie is actually under 4.7gigs (very unlikely). It does it much faster than trying to get it all on one disk. There is no encoding at all, it just splits the movie so I would recommend it!

    Thanks, I thought so (splitting).
I tried the ripping methode, but after a whole weekend I gave up.
Mayby I will try again, or buy software like DVD X Copy.
BTW CloneCD is working on CloneDVD.

Hee, jrbilly, how long is your process anyway.

Once I 've been busy for a whole weekend just for one movie and it failed !!

I don't know about the chapters (i don't want them)

WizKid it takes me about 18 hours to prepare a movie for copy. I can forward you the setting I use if you like. I have never had a bad copy and I get some beutiful DVD's but no chapters.

I'm still reading everything I can find on the subject. One of the problems is none of the software companies include detail directions
