I would like forum users to reccomend a external DVD DL burner to use on a MAC using 10.4.10.

My machine information is as follows.

    Machine Model: PowerMac7,2
    CPU Type: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.0.7f0

My internal burner (original) works fine but will not burn DL disks.

The new burner will mainly be used for ripping an occasional Movie or Concert video but want to make sure I get a fast reliable macintosh compatiple drive that works without tweaks on a Mac. I read some excellent advice in other forums here about recomendations on using a DVD burner however not all burners are mac compatible and some like Kanguru only work with some software so it obviously has limited compatibility.

I am considering an external as the internal drive would have to be from from MAC to work I think.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Any IDE or SATA (depending on your comp) drive should work as an internal. I put a 80gb Fujitsu OEM hard drive and a Quanta DVD+-RW DL burner from a broken Acer into a G3 PowerBook Pismo last month :D
