Hi all. I would like to know the following details:

Position of PS2 - Does the lens wear out easier when placed vertically(straight up) or horizontally(flat down)?

Does playing burnt DVD-R wear out the lens / place more pressure on the lens than just playing backup DVD-ROM bought outside?

    Please feel free to discuss.

seems you are the one thats retarded friend.

For your information there is a HUGE difference between pressed originals and burned dvd. the main ones,

    1 Reflectivity
    2.Track errors

    1. dvd+/-R have about 40% of the reflectivity of originals, so the laser as to have a higher power output to read them correctly (which eventually burns it out)

    2. pressed originals have 0 errors on the disc, whereas dvd-R have millions on the disc, most small enough that the laser simply adjusts itself to read them so you dont see any skipping. This puts more stress on both the laser and the worm gear that moves it, which can wreck the ps2.

try researching on stuff a bit before you come on to this forum and slate people.

You look very stupid to the rest of us who actually know what we are talking about.

    to answer aaur4

the ps2 has been designed to sit either way, no real difference but ive heard its better flat

DVD-R are ok to use on a ps2 but ALWAYS use A grade media like ritek G04 or verbatim. if you use crappy media you will burn your laser out.
