i have already softmoded my xbox and i have evolutionx on it, and i would like to change my hdd. I want to use xbox hdm to format the hdd but i do not want to take the hdd out of my computer and have to worry about breaking my computer. could i instead just use a usb to ide adapter that i could purchase on ebay cheaply and do it this way?

    No!

Why do you want to take the HDD out of your computer anyway?

No, that's correct, however, you don't remove the HDD, just unplug the grey IDE cable temporarily!

The adapter doesn't work... a few guys have been trying it recently after hearing it had been done! I'll believe it when I see it!

What about an IDE to SATA adapter. Can I use one of those to plug my IDE (new xbox) hdd into my SATA motherboard socket and format it that way? jb
