So I have just moved into a new place without a phone line and my TiVo is now inoperable. I am looking to take my PC and make it into a PVR.

    Specs are as follow:

    e6600
    Asus P5b Deluxe
    2 gigs of Ram
    x1900xtx
    Audigy 2

I have done absolutely no research on the topic and need to know what hardware and software I will need to seemlessly integrate my PC into my TV viewing.

Also, I have a couple of questions about this...
    1) Will I be able to do anything with my computer when it is recording a program?
    2) How easy/user friendly and reliable will "season passes" be for individual programs?

Thanks for any and all help

my favorite piece of software to do this with is BeyondTV here:

    http://www.snapstream.com/

it is not free, but I think it works the best. Also, if you like it, all info on computer specs/hardware are there too.

I personally use the snapstream system and it works great. I just have a wireless nic in the machine to transfer stuff over and to control the box when I am away I can use logmein.com for finding out what I want to record etc. Works great!
