Hi, I've seen some ways to make SVCDs with permanent subs around, but that's not exactly what I'm after. It messes up the movie, plus removes the posibility of several subs.

If you know of a way to add switchable subtitles, or have a util that can do it please let me know it, as I have several movies with subtitles like, "srt" and "sub", that play in the PC just fine and u can turn ON/OFF the subs etc. But I don't know how to transfer this capability to my standalone dvd (Apex 1500). Is there a way to just stack these avi/mpg srt/sub files into some program, that would spew out an SVCD compliant file with switchable subs? Let me know if I'm just dreaming ;) Thanks!

The thing about vcd and svcd is that they're only one file with a video stream and an audio stream. Even when you have sub's they are only part of the video stream. To my knowledge, the only way to do this with vcd/svcd is to create two different movies and place them both on the same disks and change from one movie to another using the remote control.

The problem with this method is obvious. A 650mb 74min cd-r will only hold 35mins svcd therefor will only hold about 18min if you were to put two mpgs on the same disk

Sorry I can't help any more than that!!
