I dropped my PSP this morning (still in case)

I can now boot it up as normal and it shows the Sony PSP page and then begins to load the wallpaper and shows the little loading circle thingie but then when that's done all i see is the wallpaper and no icons and I can't do anything. I'm guessing the hardware is screwed up but then why would it get this far into the loading screen? Could this be fixed with a firmware reinstall possibly? I'm using custom fw. Thanks in advance.
