I just finished a Matrix Infinity GD install on a PS2 V16 (or latest edition V14). I get the matrix screen, can get to the matrix setup screen, and can boot original discs, but I can't do much else. The seller, modchip.com, said that the chip came with homebrew firmware, but I can't figure out how to upgrade this sucker since I don't have a blue reset light like earlier ps2's. I've tried holding the power/reset button for like 2-3 seconds but nothing happens. Also sometimes it freezes on the matrix screen. Anyone who has gone through this, I would appreciate your help.

Upgrading the firmware on a MI chip is simple - just burn the newest upgrade disc, pop it in, and boot up the system.

If it's not recognizing burned discs, it could be a few of your solder points aren't connecting, most likely the ones for authenticating discs. Double check them with your multimeter to see if they are grounded or bridged anywhere.

That sucks, I know none of the contacts are bridged to each other, I checked that, I'll resolder them I guess. Is there a difference as far as contact points between the gh-051-02 and the gh-051-12 boards? Thanks for your help.
