We own a 70011 v12 slim ps2. We have previously used swap magic and a flip top, but just bought a matrix infinity chip (a real one). We have managed to get it installed and flashed, but we are unsure how to get it to load back-ups. I think we are just missing something, but unsure what. It will boot, and play original games just not back-ups. Heres where we stand now:

    * When I turn on the ps2 it shows the Matrix logo.
    * I can hold down the select button to do fast boot
    * I can access the bios menu and change setting.
    * When I boot an original it says "playstation infinity 1.82"
    * It allows me to flash the bios.
    * It appears that all features are working except it wont boot a backup.

I've been reading a lot about laser failure, but it will still play original games, and prior to installing the matrix chip it played back-ups using swap magic. Hopefully someone can point out what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

Staff...I have previously posted a poorly titled thread that got no response. It might be considered a double post. If you are going to close either of my threads as a dupe please close this one http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/570833

All sorted. It was something to do with the install. We ripped out the chip and wires, and started from scratch and viola SUCCESS!!!

Anyone got anything to add about a laser fix. The v12 is apparently notorious for burning out quickly. The threads I've read confuse me. Some say there is no "fix" for the laser that actually works. Others say it does. I've read there are as many as 4 different laser fixes for the v12. Can someone clarify which fix is the best, and maybe where I can buy the chip in Canada? TIA.
