My wife purchased 5 Maxell "DVD-R Authoring" Disks. None of these seem to work on my Sony DRUA. At least not when trying to used DVDX Copy.
    Any Idea why?
How are "authoring" Disks different from "general use".

Yes they are very different to general usage discs. Playback on a DVD player will be much the same, but it is the burning that differs, hence your problem. With a general usage disc, tehre is a 650mm wavelength recording sensitivity. With the Authoring disc, this is only 635mm. There is no compatibility between the two.

    Thanks Oriphus,
Interesting when i phone Maxell tech support they did not know the difference and could only repeat the phrase - check your DVD information.

lol - typical of many poorly trained technical support guys that know nothing about what they are supposed to help you with. Get some General Use discs and you will be fine mate.
