i have burned several movies using ritek g04 and g05 discs. all these discs have been the shiny finish. i recently purchased a 100 pack of matte ritek ridata g04. it seems the vast majority of these discs are unplayable in my denon dvd-5900 player. howver, several of them will play in my older pioneer dv-c302d. what gives??! it boggles my mind that my news $2000 player can't handle a dvd that my much older $700 dvd player can. can any other users please post what brand stand-alone player they have and what media they have used successfully in it. something to the effect of:

    denon / ritek
    toshiba / taiyo yuden
    etc...

i would appreciate any input i receive. thanks.

For compatibility, try looking over on videohelp.com. On the left had side click on Dvd Players and do a search for your dvd standalone player & see what dvd media it plays.
