Just wondering if its is 100% needed to use DVD-R and why not DVD+R as i have backup copys of my dvd movies and they are on +R media types and play fine in my PS2
So what makes a differnce when it comes to -R and +R Media types.

Also if +R is a ok media type is Memorex media a suitable type of media for the playstation 2 console ?

It depends on which version PS2 you have. v1-3 and some 4's don't read +R media.

You're v9 will play DVD+R backups granted you have a boot method. I use DVD+Rs on my v9, but I had troubles with Memorex. I now use Sony DVD+Rs that I bought from Walmart, and I haven't had a bad burn yet. They're 1x-4x and come in a set of five different colors.
