Hi, I recently purchased a 512mb memory card for my HP Pavilion a714x which had a 512mb already in it. I read my specifications on the HP website and they were: Memory Installed 512 MB (1 x 512) Maximum allowed 1.0 GB (2 X 512 MB) Speed supported PC2700 MB/sec Type 184 pin, DDR SDRAM DIMM slots Two Open DIMM slots One The memory card i bought from newegg was this Brand pqi Series POWER Series Model MD3412UOE Type 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Capacity 512MB Speed DDR 333 (PC 2700) Cas Latency 2.5 Voltage 2.5V Heat Spreader No I think it should be compatible, but whenever i try and install it i cant really hook the two ejector buttons on to the card, The card it about half a centimeter or so bigger than the one installed already. I tried going to BIOS screen after i had the card in there, and it didnt recognize anything. The sticker on the stock memory card says: 512mb DDR, 400, CL3 Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
when your installing the ram set the case down and unplug your pc. the two pins that lock your ram (top an bottom) pull them back all the way and just put in the ram an press down on it hard but not to hard and it should lock in by it self. if it still doesn't detect it, chances are that you could of burn out your ram.
i finally got it to work. i just switched the two memory cards and for some reason it fits now.. Thanks for your help.
