I have tried to join two similar AVI files using virtualdub but when I try to open the files to join the message 'couldn't locate format for MP43...virtualdub requires a VFW compatible codec...' despite me installing ffdshow and divx v5.4.1. and other codecs. Can anyone help please?

Cheers P but I can't even open the files in virtualdub, its saying it does not have the ability to decompress mp4. I've tried installing various codecs like ffdshow, but still no joy!

Get the mp4 codec. Google it.

I think MP43 is the Microsoft Codec for ASF files. Virtualdub had to remove support for it. The last version to have support for it was 1.3c (I think).
