I bought a Pre-modded PXS2 with a Messiah 2 chip. It works great. All my backups work. So from the same company I ordered a Pre-Modded Messiah 2 Pro and none of my backups (except CDr's) work. Just goes to browser screen.. It turns out the supposed NEW machine is a 30001 V4. Is there a compatibility problem with V4 machines and V9 PSX2 DVD's ?

The reader in the v4 PS2's isn't as good quality as the later models, particularly as how the v9's are specifically designed to read just about any writable media. You're likely going to have to burn the games you want to run on your v4 at 1x using top quality media such as Verbatim Datalife CD/DVD's. I use cheap Princo DVD's which work fine in my v8 but will not boot in my friend's v4 for example.

The company I bought it from responded right after I wrote this post... I sent it back for a 50001 model... I'm not paying $4.99 a disc, when I paid $309.00 for a New PSX2, Messiah Pro, that will use cheapy disc's for backup.

    Thanks for your reply...

I'd say that was a good call.

This is one of the Original responses, when I told them that my system wasn't working....

try using Mitsui disc when making backups. We can send you some samples if
you wish. Different PS2s have differnt requirements in DVD Rs, we test all
systems with Mitsui GOLD DVD -R before shipping. You can purchase Mitsui on
    the internet or from us.

Sounds like you nailed it.... Right on the Head !!

    Thanks for verifying my suspicions...
I don't know what happened... When you think you can trust someone... BAM... You (almost) get screwed....

    Thanks again !!!

This was supposed to be a X-mas present for my Neice... I ended up having to give her my working PSX2, and have to wait and see if this works out for mine.... If not... it's to the bank to reverse charges on my CC... Oh well, what's another $300.00 bucks... LOL
