I have a 200 gig maxtor I just got today, and I'm using HDAdvance 2.1.

For some reason it only shows 189 gig. I know HDA uses like 2 gig for it's setup and all, but I'm actually short 12 gig.

Does everyone else have the same ammount of space on their 200 gig Maxtors?

that is normal. the bigger the hard drive, the more space you will lose.

this is due to the fact that
    1 gigabyte= 1024 megabytes
    not
    1 gigabyte= 1000 megabytes

i know that it makes no sense and you feel shortchanged when you buy a huge hard disk and dont get the full amount of space that you paid for. but anyway thats the way it is.

    hope this clears this up

I understand, kinda like the difference between FAT, FAT32, NTFS, right?

Just thought maybe I'd done something wrong.

    Thanks for the input though.
