    hi all,a while since ive been here ,but ive had no need.you guys have sorted all my probs out,thnx 4 that.anyway.im kinda interested in looking into mixing some sounds , like vocal vs music mixing.is there a prog.to get me started on this.hope you know what im talkin about(music from 1 track mixed with vocals from a diff 1).any help much appreciated tia

    With Adobe Audition (formerly known as CoolEditPro) you can do what you want. AFAIK there's a timelimited fully functional trial version. If you're not planning to do something serious, some cheaper or free alternative should be enough, e.g. the wave editor bundled with Nero or Audacity.

    Extracting single instruments or vocals from a CD recording is a very hard task though and in most cases the results won't be satisfying. You might want to use soundsamples, e.g. the free ones from here: http://www.dorumalaia.com/
