If you are able to tell your box what you want then its possible.
The standard chorus mmds scan is not functional with IF222.
Maybe its easier to buy a old mmds antenna at a garage sale.

So the Chorus MMDS downconverted freq range is 218 to 402Mhz.
    Thats a spectrum of 186Mhz.
How many channels are transmitted in this spectrum and what is the freq spacing ?
The AFN TV Antenna I was looking at has 31 channels with 6Mhz spacing.
The standard Chorus mmds scan that you are speaking of is some sort of tool in the image one loads on the Dreambox ?
One would have to edit this so as its not possible to just scan every freq between 218Mhz and 402Mhz ?
I'm trying to source an old aerial but they are pretty scarce.

The spacing is 8 mhz and the frequencies between are used for analogue mmds.
Currently 11 frequencies for digital and 11 for analogue chorus mmds are possible. Which frequencies are in use for digital depends at the mmds transmitter. Either 1. 3. 5. and so on or 2. 4. 6. and so on.
The standard scan is defined in the terrestrial.xml for Ireland.

Chorus didn't collect the mmds antennas in the past.
Some ex subscribers bin the antenna after some time or sell it at a garage sale.
You need a aditional power inserter if you get such a aerial.

Thanks for that info Mgb17.Very insightful.
So the ATN downconverter would correctly translate the necessary 22 channels of data but the IF frequencies are not a match for the terrestrial.xml file so the dreambox cant see them ?
i.e The info is there but the dreambox cant see it unless the scan frequencies are edited.
Can one just scan manually entered frequencies or edit the frequencies in the xml file ?
It seems getting a suitable downconverter is a difficult task .

I arranged for a contact to privately install a Chorus mmds aerial for me about two weeks ago.
My house is surrounded by large beech trees and beyond that there is a dense ,meaning that I do not have line of sight to the transmitter.
He did a signal strength test and it was around 42dbm where I needed 70.
So I wouldnt be able to get a clear signal.
Would be a waste of time installing it I was informed.
Needless to say I was very disappointed as my neighbour can receive it but he is slightly left of the dense so he has a much better view.
I did have Analogue Chorus years ago but replaced it with Sky due to the same problems with the trees ,my reception was crap.
I guess I'll have to explore other avenues .
I ordered the setup off Ebay anyway as I'm going to use that on a friends house,he has clear line of sight.
Its coming from the US so it could take a while yet.
I'll update in a few weeks.

    sorry to hear that.

i was considering getting it installed by chorus, then cancelling, hoping that they leave the antenna, or i was thinking of trying to find a chorus engineer who would install an antenna for a few quid. At least that way i would know that it was set up corectly.

what image do u need for digital mmds in cork ?

Thing is i live in Enfield (only new to the area) so it is $ky or ch0rus (MMDS). I was just going to get the cheapest ch0rus package and then get just get a box which would allow me to get all the other movies and sports. Will the eurovox box work with chorus on mmds or what type of box do i need? and if it does will it work in this area of meath?

Just one other thing a friend lives in swords and he has ch0rus digital but it is not mmds but cable is it possible for him to get one of these eurovox box's?

PLEASE ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED. ;)

for cable tv: a DBox2 is your best bet

for MMDS: a dreambox is best, just make sure which type of tuner you need for mds, some require a DVB-C tuner and others need a DVB-T tuner.

Chorus MMDS in cork needs a DVB-T tuner

Ch0rus MMDS in Cork use DVB-T tuners, i'm pretty sure that t would be the same in your neck of the woods.

try looking around these forums, or maybe someone with more knowledge than myself, would let you know.

    at a GUESS.. i would say DVB-T
