mod chip for virtual console?

    are there any modchips around which would let me play VC games? say off a dvd or sth like that? the wiikey is upgradeable right?
    would that be the best chip to buy for now?

    What you're talking about is emulation. VC is legit because you have to pay for the downloads directly to the console.

    No, VC works only via the internet on the wii.

    Modchips currently for the wii are "drive chips" that only change how the drives work.

    Yes, the Wiikey is upgradable and is said to someday soon feature GC homebrew apps standard like SNES9x, SDload, and MFE Media player.

    ah okay thanks!
    was wondering, if u own a n64 cart such as mario 64 or zelda, wouldnt it be perfectly legit to play a backup of it anyway u want on the wii?
