really depends on how you want to go about it 1) buy a programmer, flash chip, then install (17-20 bucks for programmer) 2) flash with a bios cd.. the thing is.. when determining what media to use, you will need to figure out what type of dvdrom drive your xbox has.. if its a thompson, you might need to use a cd-rw or dvd-r.. if its a samsung, you can probably get away with cd-r

this is the site i used to buy my chip at, i'm not positive if it's US or not, but if it isn't then it still ships to US fairly quick http://shop.system-mods.com/product.asp?3=95 as for knowing what version you have, check this site http://www.xbox-chipz.co.uk/Installguide.shtml look at the top left picture, if you have 2 heat sinks, then you have v1.1 or later. if you have 1 heatsink over the CPU (i assume) and a fan, like mine, then you have v1.0. it doesn't matter too much as to what version of an xbox you have, most chips are compatable with all versions.
