Matrix Infinty works on all versions, though apparantly there is problems with lasers burning out when used with the slimline PSTwo. I have one fitted in my V9 PS2, brilliant chip, hasnt let me down yet.

    ok, update...

I found that I have a SCPH-39001 motherboard, and I found that console sourse has a no solder kit for that machine for 9.99. Is this advisable? Or would the PS2 Matrix Infinity Mod Chip be a better choice?

I dont know much about the solderless kits, but ive heard they're not much use. I would say go for the Infinity, I don't think you'll regret it.
