    Hi Guys,

I've searched the forum but keep finding conflicting statements.

Could someone clear following up for me please.

What is the best chip/mod to use on the very first european model SCPH-30001?

I want to be able to play DVD games but I've heard only DVD-R's work and not DVD+R's. Is that true?

    Please help.

    Many Thanks.
    Woody.

Not true. both (+,-) formats work though u may need to do some research on your versions compatiblity. Earlier versions PS2 has a weaker laser read, especailly with DVD media.

It's got ten screws so I think it's version 1.

Do they even play DVD-r/DVD+r ?

    Cheers

I have a V3 (Magic3.6) and I would recommend that you try to sell you V3 and get a brand new V7 then MOD that.
The V3's drive (mine at least) does not like DVDR's. Out of three DVD's I burnt one works and usually requires 2-3 resets to get it to boot.

    Wish I had a V7 now ... Booo-Hooo... ;)
