Welcome to AD, and yes your thread is in the right place.
Assuming that your laptop is virus free, have you recently defragged your hard drive?
Are there any other processes running at those times?
Is your laptop overheating? this can cause the cpu to slow down.

    Cheers.

So if you have defragged your hdd and the cpu isn't busy at those times, then I'm stumped......sorry.

    Cheers.

in task manager, see what your performance is & what is running in the background.

I ran the ccleaner and it deleted files from my system. Then I done the cdshredder and that came back clean. Ad-aware found 3 critical objects and spybot said congratulations no immediate threats were found.
