does anyone know where i can get an mp3 utility that will take the vocals out of the song and leave the music. something preferably free would be appreciated.
In most recordings the singer's voice is located in the centre. You have to do a substraction of left + right channel to eliminate it. There are some winamp karaoke plugins that can do this. Google will tell you where to find them. PROBLEM: If your source is MP3, removing the vocals will make awful artifacts audible so you might want to do this using uncompressed audio as source.
