Ok, i have some videos I took with a friends camera.

I put them on my computer and they are MP4's or MPEG-4's or whatever.

anyways i want to convert them to normal videos for people with basic computers can watch them. And I want to edit them and make them smaller because its like 20 min of driving and one race in the middle is all that I want.

    Anyways, thanks for the help.

    mp4 is Nero digital.
    Most editors/encoders should accept them.

mp4 is not Nero Digital. ND uses mp4.
mp4 is the official MPEG4 container and unfortunatly most editors/encoders don't really accept them, although any that supports dshow input should with the correct filters installed.

Best bet might be to demux the video to avi and audio to aac, mp3 or whatever it is.

Although if the mp4 is only SP then you can edit it with Quicktime.

No. Once again wrong way around. Nero Digital uses the mp4 format.
