I can't seem to playback Mpeg-1 videos anymore in WMP (8 or 9), or my ATI MM Player. I can play MPEG-2 files, AVI Files, Divx Files, etc. without a problem, but when I try to play an MPEG-1 file, I'm getting a blank frame (or possibly the first frame of video). I can hear the audio just fine. If I import the MPEG file into VirtualDub, it comes in fine and is playable from VD.

The problem appeared a little after I installed an ATI 8500DV in my system, though was working after the initial install for several days. There had been no other hardware/software install that would lead to this issue.

I am running XP Pro, 512MB Ram P4 1.6 Processor. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

go to www.microsoft.com and download the codecs that they have.
It is a 1 file application thats installs them to your PC.

You shouldn't use winmedia to play any mpg files. Try using WinDVD and see does it have any effect!
