I posted this to one board and was told that that was the wrong board, so I post it here, hoping that this is the right one...

I have searched the archives and found a partial response to my question, but not fully. I realize that I can download the Mpeg-4 codec for the purpose of converting some .avi files to Mpeg-2, but is there a specific place to store the Mpeg-4 codec? I need a Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4V3 to convert certain files. Know where I can get it? I use TMPGEnc for the conversion process but am wanting to try VirtualDub as well. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You don't need the MPEG4 codec to encode DivX(AVI) to SVCD(MPEG2). Simply use a program called DVD2SVCD using CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder) to convert your DivX(AVI) files to SVCD(MPEG2).
