As long as you have your original KEY, then you can re-flash. Just use xtreme 5.3 and select the "report as MS25" when prompted. If you have a VIA card you don't need to use the Enable 0800 disc.

Do a dump of your current firmware.
    mtkflash r /m /sata messedup.bin

Open this file in Windows with Firmware Toolbox 3

If you have a key that looks real and not FFFFF or 000000, then you're ok. If not, you're screwed.

Another simple way to find out if your key is screwed is if it won't play any original or backed up games but WILL play a DVD Movie, then your key is wrong.

when ever i put an original game in it, it says please insert this into an xbox 360.

then i exit to the dashboard and it says "play DVD" when its a game!

so i think its real messed up.

Ps2 already mentioned how to dump your firmware

Boot into dos with your with your boot disk & type

mtkflash r /m /sata messedup.bin (or whatever you want to call your dodgy bin file)

if he doesnt have the original key in the firmware then he's pretty much screwed :-( hope not.
