OK, I have come to you guys because I have run out of ideas and I am at my wits ends in trying to get this to work.

I have a pioneer dvr-108 in an external enclosure on my laptop. I go to copy a dvd (such as butterfly effect). I use "dvd decrypter" and then either "dvd shrink it" or "Nero" to squeeze the files to a single layer dvd. The burner doesn't proceed past the "writing lead in" part or it just fails.

I have tried many different media including Verbatim and Ritek. I have upgraded the firmware to 1.10.

The burner will burn data fine but not video.

I also have a matshita dvd-ram uj-811 on my laptop and it burns video ok. The video is choppy with this drive and it isn't very good (speed wise)

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks Nephilim for you reply.

I do have USB 2.0. Are there ways to check if the USB lead is transferring data over quick enough for DVD burning?
