recently i bought a mad dog 16x dvd+/- double layer burner. So I decided to burn mpeg files, I can fit 10 of them on a dvd. i burn the dvd and tested it on my dvd plyer on my computer and it plays fine. So I go out and buy a sony dvd plyer model DVP-NC875V, I called up sony and they told me it plays both DVD+r/rw and DVD-r/rw. When i put the dvd disc in, it wont play. I used Memorex DVD+r disc to burn the mpeg files and i tried using Memorex DVD+rw and a dvd disc with no brand. The 3 DVD disc plays fine on my dvd player on my computer but it wont play on my new dvd player. Can someone please help me out.

    Hi Nycxazn11,

Just because you put some files on a disc doesn't mean the Sony player is as smart as your PC and will understand the many different formats and play them all.

Convert your MPEG files to VOB files and you'll be all set. The standalone knows what they are and can play them. Use NeroVision, dvd Santa or, if you wish to keep as much quality as you possibly can, use TMPGEnc DVD Author to render them to VOB's and then burn to disc. It will take a while so be ready to wait.

BTW, other options are available if you use the "search" function at the top of the page and choose "site-wide search"

    Cheers,

    Pete

Dont worry man, its not your fault. DVD players are stupid. sometimes if you where to have a file with a 3 in it, you will have to rename it with a 1 in its place. its becuase the player isnt smart enough to look elswhere for the file.

trial and error my friend, trial and error!
